Discourages senior students from doing externals or scholarships, doesn't clearly explain complex musical ideas and fails to review work. Merrick Stein is both arrogant and incompetent at a senior level, as students all rely on learning off each other/ However very good and encouraging teacher for junior students- although a little too strict.
He is the kindest, most understanding and most experienced teacher ever! I really enjoy music lessons with him as he helps me increase my knowledge of musical theory and practical music (performance).
I can see how some people can get on the wrong side of Mr Stein. I can't rate him highly enough though. Have seen enough teachers in my life and he is undoubtedly one of the best ever. Take my hat off to his dedication and knowledge. Incredible how much personal time he invests in kids. He manifests his love for students by being strict sometimes. Good taste in socks too :-)
Got Music Studies Scholarship thanks to Mr Stein! Great teacher. He put up with so much of my crap!
He is a very good teacher, he knows what he is doing when it comes to music. and as for the people that comment bad about MR Stein, you all need help, you gutless wonders!!!
hes a realy good guy he can be a bit strict sometime but hes realy still realy good
Can't rate Merrick high enough! i was at PRM COL in the 90's & heavily into music - He helped me gain so much confidence and gave me the ability to see my own worth! Much Respect to you Mr Music!
Awesome music teacher great at teaching the subject! scares you shitless first time you meet him and i believe that he gets high off music. Tries to be funny but seriously can't!
Okay well yeah hes strict but really overall hesa agreat teacher and well yeah sorta intimidating lol
hay steiny boy, your a mad teacher. ur laid back but ya get us through exams. people may be scared by ur .....giantness but your a good chap really. roadshow was fun fun fun.
MY fave teacher eva .he does want his students to succeed in the subject and he just is really helpful whne you need help
MY FAVE TEACHER, the thing thet is cool bout him is that he really wants his students to do well, and will do whatever it takes for you to get there... if he likes you. SOmetimes you think he doesnt but he does, if he makes fun of you it is generally a good sign :)
thanks heaps for the roadshow Mr Stein!!! i loved it this year and am hoping dearly that we go away at the end of the year not around exams?!! Also a afterparty at the end of the year..to uno have a proper farewell to the 7thformers and mayb set the rules straight about no randoms just turning up coz in my perspective that totally killed the whole roadshow thing! But thanks heaps!!! hopefully again soon sumtym we can travel away!
I was quite surprised when I saw the emoticon associated with Mr. Stein. Most people I know don't like him at all, but in my opinion he is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Period. Just don't get on the wrong side of him and you're sweet.
Doesn't seem paticularly organised with what he teaches us but he explains to us what we need to know for assessments. Seems strict and scary when you don't know him but he's great to kids that want to do well in music.
Mr Stein is possibly the most reliable teacher i have had, even if you stuff something up hugely he usually tries his best to help you. Unless you're one of the students he doesn't like, but it seems pretty hard to get on his bad side, and if you do, just give him a basket of tomatoes :)
big and scary yet awesome. can do so much with a bunch of students. but i dn't think he likes the english very much...he manages to get into a few fights with them on roadshow tour...
I had Mr Stein as a music teacher in 1993 and he was really great, thanks for all the encouragement, he has also taught two of my other brothers and they all thought that he rocks to
