Jane Collins is one of the only teachers I ever saw at WHHS who exhibited dedication and interest in her areas of expertise. I feel that the negativity displayed toward her apparent disinterest on this forum is not necessarily misplaced, but misunderstood. Many of Jane's students had no interest in learning and had been thrown into her class by Sutton, who clearly hated her for personal reasons. That'd make anybody cynical. She inspired me to pursue my own love of history and language.
She taught me that falling asleep in class is acceptable and failing english is our fault because she didn't get enough sleep
She is a highly intelligent woman when it comes to classical studies and English. Unfortunately she lacks incredibly in interaction with the students which causes the students to be off task. I respect Ms Collins for the amount of time she's been teaching but because 1) her desk is at the back of the class and 2) she basis most of her lessons from textbook, there will always be immature students who go against her because there is absolutely no connection.
Just thought I'd pop on here to defend Mrs. Collins a bit. She is a very unconventional teacher but that does not change the fact that she is endlessly knowledgeable and, where it comes to classics, incredibly passionate about what she teachers. She is very clever and very lovely, although yes, she is quite hard to endure in your junior years. Stick it out. I promise you will be rewarded. I, myself, am now two years into university and miss having her as a teacher.
Ah hell wer du i start! I think she iz well past her expiery date! The least she can do is at least rememba our namez!!! Just about sleeping everytime i go into her class!
Aw Mrs Collins is an individual teacher, she teaches you everything that you need to know, she even brought us fish & chips, but i must admit shes nicer to you when your a senior, but shes the best.
Do not mess with Mrs collins because you will not win! However, she provides a complete and comprehesive course and isn't all that scary once you get to know her.
