Mr Calder is a great teacher he is very knowledgeable and good at teaching. The one thing he lacks is controlling a class, but other than that he is a good teacher.
He seems to know what hes doing but probably needs more skill controlling a class
advice for DC. there needs to be a clearer explanation before the commencement of internals because I felt in 2008 that I was left in the dark to the requirements, time and preparation of internals.
he is bad at controlling the class, meaning no learning and staying after school
my class is ment to be the smart bio class and half of the class failed a simple exam, i think those results speak for them selves
he doesnt have a hope of controlling even my year nine class we spend more time talking than learning and he acts like there is nothing he can do about it
his skill as a teacher can be seem in our A-streem classes's end of year science test marks, which were on average around 20% less than the other 2 A-stream classess
the man when i had him last year. oh the buzzy things i used to get up to in his class. it wasn't about the teaching but i learnt heaps of off topic stuff like what chemicals not to mix. he even let me off dtention to go to court (i made up a lie)
He tries really hard to teach the class. Not the best at spelling or handwriting but nonetheless the students that wanna learn in his class do well.
He tries really hard but doesn't relise that in junior years we dont take science as an option - treats it like we love it. Not the best at explaining the hard facts but is an 'above average' teacher, only just
