Mr barbour was the best teacher at Burnside in my opinion. Mr barbour at that start seemed to be more strict then all of the other teachers but by the end of the year it was sad to see him go, all of the other comments about him being scary and shouting means that you or others in your class didn't behave and you just aren't used to that type of real life action. He taught us rules that are helpful in real life and has taught me more history than all the years of my schooling combined. Ty Mr B.
Mr Barbour is one of my favourite teachers and was lucky enough to have him twice. He is a highly organised and knowledgeable person who has very structured lessons which are easy to learn form. He sets you up with lots of notes which are helpful for revision. He always was really nice and has quite a good sense of humour. You will have a good year with him if you respect him, you wouldn't want to be on his bad side.
Very Strict. We learn a lot, but... Not sure if it's worth the agony
By far, one of the best teachers I had in high school. A very down to earth and knowledgeable man. I looked at a lot of other reviews saying he was "scary." He's not scary, he's just assertive. Something that was lacking in my other teachers as I did enjoy testing them and learnt sweet F.A from the pushovers. I still remember that first lesson in Year 9 I had with him, "Mr. Barbour's rules and expectations."
Mr Barbour is really strict but he teaches us lots so he is an alright teacher.
Good teacher, knows what he's talking about, gets work done and allows us to understand itm because he teaches at a detailed level. (4 books)
Mr Barbour?? It has been over ten years sice I had a class with him. I am now a Queensland Police Officer and I think I owe it to him. He never let me down or turned his back on me. Thank You so much. You helped make me the man I am today :)
Best history teacher I have had and he is just a really cool dude, I know i'll do well with his pretty extensive notes!
Love Mr Barbour. Top teacher, really funny and awesome voice haha
Very experienced, intelligent teacher. Definitely gets you to pass history
Mr Barbour is pretty stricked but only if you disrespect him. he is nice to me probably because when im absent i always bring him a note on time lol
Upon first impression he is an extremely strict teacher. However, he is extremely friendly, knowledgeable, intelligent, and charismatic- therefore he makes for a great teacher. Just don't disobey him!
Words cannot describe. Witty, funny, opinionated, brilliant.
He's not that bad, he managed to keep our class in check easy, except whenever he left the class we were talking as soon as he was out the door haha and I've learnt more with him in a year than a year with any other teacher, even if he does make you write alot (which I don't like) but he's actually quite friendly out of class. Poitn to whoever it was on 6/17/09 (american date) he does NOT get angry easy, so you must have had a crap class, and in the 19th century, the 1800s, they used chalk, not markers.
Mr Barbour is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He keeps what is a generally misbehaving class in check and we are always working hard. My only problem with him is that his own tests that he has written himself are rather difficult. Mr. Barbour FTW!
he scares me ae the biggest disapointment is that i was looking foward to history after having two great teachers in year 9 and 10. they were both really enguaging and interesting. then going into year 11 i find myself being shouted at along with the rest of the class! he dosent even teach us the subject he teaches us his opinions
he is an awesome social studies teacher i would like to have him as mysocial science teacher all through if it is possible.
He's a great teacher. He's strict enough to keep the students in line and interesting enough to make you want to learn. I did 2 pages in his class every day and got nearly 90% in my end of year exam. Keep up the good work Mr Barbour
Really awesome teacher!!! Quite strict but its freakin brilliant for the annoying slackers. Doesn't like you chewing gum though
A very good teacher. Strict but you end up learning alot
mr barbour is awsome.... go the b man!!!!Ngati Kahungunu represent!!!!!
I learnt more from him in one year than i have learnt about the topic in 13 years. Thats says alot. Great teacher!
What do I think of Mr Barbour?,I think he is a character.I thoroughly enjoyed every class I had with him.He was always quick to pick the good from the bad, anyone who didnt abide by his rules was strictly watched a metre from his nose.He is at his best when he thinks strongly about something,an its agreed that you have to agree to diagree. Now thats a fair comment.haha.Much love to the big man
Mr Barbour successfully prepared me for history @ university. I now study in Otago and thanks to his fantastic teaching and inspiration i have a A+ average this semester leading up to my exams! Thanks Mr Barbour! T.v.D
great teacher! learnt alot hope he stays at bside for ages.
he is quite strict but that is good because you learn heaps in his class. He is a good teacher and is inspiring and interesting. good on him for teaching here for over 20 years.
mr babour is an inspiration. he tends to be alot stricter on juniors. he teaching got me thru history ncea level one. thanks to him i no how to write an actual essay.cheers big b
Mr Barbour is definately a huge asset to burnside, he quite stirct and expects alot but as a student you feel compelled to do alot, definately the best teacher i have ever had, he has been teaching in the same room for like 30years now and has a mountain of experience
Mr Barbour is a very good teacher who is great at getting his Year 13 students used to university level work. He definitely doesn't spoon-feed you, but if you want to learn, he will help. He's got a great style e.g. making students line up before entering the class, having no posters on his classroom wall, and lecturing on the virtues of unions. I hope he stays at Burnside.
Mr Barbour represents everything I want to be in life. He is an inspiration to all he teaches.
mr barbour was one of the best teachers i ever had and i got 1st in that class and i had not done well the year before well done mr barbour
I've long left school but when I look back at Burnside I think of Mr Barbour as my favourite teacher. I learnt the most from his class.
